About
the Woodlands Collection In
2008, Martha initiated an independent project and experimented with
the idea of translating patterns found in nature into printable
repeat pattern designs. She commissioned two fabrics, Hoosic River
and Black Cherry Bark, to be digitally printed on a wide width canvas
made of recycled plastic bottles. The fabrics went on display in
a local gallery and were a success. After that, she was hooked.
In 2009,
as a participant in the Berkshire Creative Assets
for Artists business training program, she took the concept
one step further laying the foundation for the launch of an expanded
line of fabrics based on this theme. The Woodlands Collection
debuted April 2010 at the opening of her new storefront
studio and gallery on Eagle Street in North Adams, Massachusetts.
Since
2010, as a participant in the North Adams DownStreet
Art Project, Martha's gallery has become a unique destination
for sewing enthusiasts and cultural tourists who visit the Berkshires
each summer.
Open year round, Martha
continues to welcome visitors to her Eagle Street studio and gallery.
Pursuing an avid interest in design and textiles, she enjoys discussing
creative projects. She invites everyone to stop by during regular
hours and is always available for appointments.
